LA Kings Announce Hockey Operations Staff Changes

New Roles for David Torrie and Derik Johnson

Torrie Promoted to Coordinator of Pro Scouting, Johnson Elevated to Video Coordinator

The LA Kings announced today that they have promoted David Torrie to Coordinator of Pro Scouting and Derik Johnson to Video Coordinator. Torrie, who joined the Kings in 2015, has served as the team's Pro Scout for the past four seasons. In his new role, he will be responsible for evaluating and identifying professional hockey players from around the world. Johnson, who joined the Kings last year, has previously worked as a video analyst for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Arizona Coyotes. In his new role, he will be responsible for analyzing video footage of opponents and providing the coaching staff with actionable insights. "David and Derik are two highly skilled and experienced individuals who have been instrumental in our success over the past several seasons," said Kings General Manager Rob Blake. "We are confident that they will continue to make significant contributions to our organization in their new roles." The Kings also announced that they have hired Brendan Walsh as an Amateur Scout. Walsh, who has previously worked as a scout for the Dallas Stars and the Boston Bruins, will be responsible for evaluating and identifying amateur hockey players in North America. "Brendan is a highly respected scout who has a proven track record of identifying and developing talented players," said Blake. "We are excited to add him to our scouting team."
