How to Resolve the "Unknown Error" (100-14IBD) in Windows Recovery
Introduction
When attempting to recover the operating system from Microsoft Windows 8 or 10 to Windows 7 or vice versa, users may encounter an "Unknown Error" with the code 100-14IBD, 100-15IBD, 100S-14IBR, 110-17IKB, 110-14IBR, 110-15IBR, 110-15ACL, 110 Touch-15ACL, or 110-17ACL.
Troubleshooting the "Unknown Error"
To resolve this error, follow these steps:
- Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Device security.
- Under Security processor, select Security processor details.
- Select Security processor troubleshooting.
- Right-click on Microsoft AC Adapter and select Disable device.
- Right-click on Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Disable device.
Additional Notes
* This error can occur after the Windows update in October 2017. * The problem is related to issues with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) in the device manager. * Disabling the Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery may resolve the error by resetting the TPM.
